River's Edge Charter Academy

Because today’s students are multi-media savvy, this elementary and middle school prides itself on providing an “Education for the Next Generation.” The charter school’s motto is backed by some of the best technology in Brevard County public schools. From laptops to palm pilots, students in grades kindergarten thru 8 use the latest technology in every aspect of learning. In the primary grades, every classroom has computers to provide instruction on basic computer applications as well as two computer labs for students to practice what they’ve learned. In middle school, students go wireless with technology as they integrate palm pilots and laptops into daily coursework.

Each 6th and 7th grade student receives on loan a Zire 21 Palm, a handheld computer, at the beginning of the school year to use for coursework such as writing assignments, math work and science experiments. The Learning with Laptops program provides each 8th grade student with a laptop for the school year to use in classes. This mobile technologies program is based on research that shows the use of palms and laptops in the classroom increase test scores and student motivation

Team sports, activities and clubs such as student council, the National Junior Honor Society, safety patrol, strings, tech squad and the broadcast team provide a total school experience.
