Palm Bay High School PIRATES Program

The Palm Bay High School Program for Independent Research, Advanced Technology, Engineering, and Science (PIRATES) Academy is the final link in the Brevard County Public School’s Science and Technology Choice Program feeder chain, which includes the West Melbourne School for Science and the Stone Middle School Science and Technology Program. The Academy’s goal is to provide a coordinated, rich and rigorous curriculum to assist students interested in careers in the fields of science, engineering, math and technology.

Students will be required to complete four years of Science, Math and Technology course work.  Academy students in 9th and 10th grades will be teamed in Math, English, Science and Social Studies classes with a student-to-teacher ratio of 20:1. Academy students will also be required to complete a Junior Year Internship and a Senior Year Capstone Project.

Enrollment in Palm Bay High School’s PIRATES Academy is based on student and parent choice. Students from any of these central and south areas may apply to attend the PIRATES Academy if they meet Academy requirements.
