Science, and Technology
The world is full of questions. At Golfview, students explore the answers
through real-world encounters. This elementary magnet is focused on Math,
Science and Technology and has improved its state performance by being
one of only five schools in the district earning 100% on the National
Adequate Yearly Progress grade for achievement. Using M.A.S.T.E.R.S.
as the theme, highlighting Math and Science Technology Experiences in
Responsive Settings, teachers use the research based Responsive Classroom
model to emphasize the social curriculum as well as the academic curriculum.
Teachers utilize the “responsive classroom” concept to foster
life skills that include critical thinking, experimentation, decision-making
and teamwork.
Students dig in, get their hands dirty and their minds motivated through
studying the school’s aquatic ponds and butterfly gardens. These
outdoor experiences help students connect with core academic concepts
in Math, Science and Literacy.
As both a Title I and a Magnet School, many resources are available to
enrich the student experience. Two computer labs, portable wireless labs
and classrooms equipped with smart boards and interactive boards link
students to the digital age for 21st century learning.
